The TPEW Program targets workers with relevant industry experience who have had previous opportunities in gaining formal training or recognised trade qualifications.

It is a requirement of this program that a candidate will enter into a full qualification pathway if they can provide Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) evidence for at minimum of 20 per cent of the units of competency in the qualification.

Student Eligibility 

At the time of enrolment in a trade-related full qualification the student must be a person who:

  • is at least 21 years of age and over,
  • has at least 2 years of work experience in the occupation/trade that relates to the qualification they will be undertaking (which should be equivalent to 20 per cent of recognition of prior learning for the units of competency in the qualification), 
  • is currently working in the relevant industry – or have worked within the industry in the past 5 years – that relates to the trade qualification they will be undertaking.

Construction Skills Queensland is an independent, not-for-profit, industry-funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices, trainees and career seekers in the building and construction industry.

If you’re considering upskilling in construction, you may be eligible for CSQ funding. Where CSQ funding doesn’t cover the full cost of the program, a student contribution will be required for the remaining course fees.

Higher Level Skills Training (HLS): Building

The higher-level skills qualification on offer was designed to be used if you are wanting to gain a QBCC Builders or Restricted Builders Licence. It can also be used to upskill for a para-professional role in the Building and Construction industry. 

CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building)

CSQ Funded: Up to $5670 (pending RPL units) Student Contribution: $950



Participant Eligibility

For the purposes of eligibility, participants under this agreement must meet the following criteria: a) an Australian or New Zealand citizen; or b) a permanent resident of Australia; or c) a visa holder with relevant permission to work. AND MUST: a) be permanently employed in Queensland. Please note eligibility requirements below are specific to the qualifications you wish to undertake in.
