Lachlan usually goes on on-site visits between Monday and Thursday to check on the progress of students in different workshops and businesses around Queensland. This usually happens for every site in three-month intervals, after which a new set of modules is released for students to absorb and practise new aspects of their skills.
During these visits, Lachlan tests the apprentices on their progress. He does this by giving them a task to complete within a time frame and watching their process. “This is often the best way to see if they’ve been catching up on their lessons and paying attention to their mentors.. Quite often, you can tell who’s been studying and who hasn’t!”
